A home lift is a long-term investment. With a few simple habits and regular preventive maintenance, you can keep it running smoothly and safely for many years.
1. Follow the recommended service schedule
Your lift provider will suggest a service frequency based on usage and model – often once or twice a year. Sticking to this schedule helps technicians identify wear-and-tear early and prevents inconvenient breakdowns.
2. Use the lift gently and correctly
Encourage family members and staff to treat the lift with care:
- Avoid forcing doors open or closed
- Do not exceed the rated capacity
- Report unusual noises or vibrations immediately
3. Keep the cabin clean and dry
Regularly clean cabin panels, handrails and floor with mild cleaning agents suitable for the materials. Avoid letting water accumulate on the floor, especially if you use natural stone or wood finishes.
4. Maintain clear access to the shaft area
Make sure the machine room or controller area remains accessible to service engineers and is free of storage items. This improves safety and reduces the time taken for routine service or fault diagnosis.
5. When should you call service immediately?
If you notice jerky movement, unusual sounds, error messages on the display or doors that do not close properly, stop using the lift and call the service team. Early intervention usually means faster and cheaper repairs.
