A home lift is priced against the individual property rather than from a standard list. The configuration, the structure required, the number of floors, the customization specified and the condition of the site each affect the figure. Blackstone establishes these during a site assessment and issues a technical and commercial proposal for the specific project.

We do not publish price ranges, because a range set against one configuration tells you very little about what your own property will require — and can be actively misleading where the site conditions differ.

Why quotations for the same house can differ

It is common to receive proposals that differ substantially for what appears to be the same installation. In most cases the difference is not the margin — it is that the proposals describe different configurations, or cover a different scope of works.

The two most frequent causes are exclusions and optional items. A proposal that leaves out the supporting structure or the electrical works will present a lower figure than one that includes them, without either being wrong. We would recommend comparing what is covered before comparing what is charged.

What determines the cost of a home lift

The factors below are established during the site assessment. Together they define the configuration, and the configuration defines the cost.

Number of floors

Each additional landing adds structure, wiring, an entrance and installation work, so travel is one of the more significant variables.

Elevator configuration

The drive system and overall arrangement are selected against the building rather than chosen from a list. Different configurations carry different costs.

Shaft and structure requirement

Whether an existing RCC shaft can be used, or a steel, glass-clad, external or indoor modular structure has to be built, is often the largest single difference between two otherwise similar projects.

Cabin and design customization

Cabin finishes, lighting, fixtures and operating panels can be customized to the interior, and the specification chosen affects the cost.

Doors

Door type and arrangement affect both the cost and how the lift is used, particularly where accessibility is the reason for the installation.

Installation conditions

Access to the property, working space around the installation and whether the household remains in residence all affect the work involved.

Electrical and site readiness

Whether the required power supply and site preparation are already in place, or need arranging, forms part of the overall scope.

Civil and structural scope

Any civil work needed to prepare the position — and whether it sits within our scope or the customer's — should be established explicitly rather than assumed.

What to compare when reviewing quotations

Two proposals are only comparable once you know they describe the same work. The points below are worth confirming on each.

  • Has the supplier assessed the property, or quoted without seeing it?
  • Which configuration and structure does the proposal actually describe?
  • Is the supporting structure included, or quoted separately?
  • Are the electrical works and any site preparation within scope?
  • Which safety provisions are included in the proposal?
  • How are maintenance and technical support handled after handover?
  • Is the figure stated inclusive or exclusive of taxes?

Maintenance and service considerations

A home lift is a long-term installation, and maintenance forms part of the overall cost of ownership rather than a separate afterthought. Whether servicing is included for an initial period, and what a maintenance arrangement covers thereafter, is worth establishing at proposal stage rather than after handover.
